Once home to one of Europe’s largest fertiliser factories, the coastal park of Drapetsona — known today as Lipasmata Park — has been transformed into a vibrant seaside escape. Open every day of the year and welcoming over a million visitors annually, it is a unique blend of history, culture and leisure.
A Scenic Stroll with a Story
Wander along the park’s 2.5-kilometre promenade and enjoy breathtaking views of the Saronic Gulf and the entrance to Piraeus port. Stop for a coffee at one of the park’s canteens as you soak up the maritime atmosphere. Along the way, you can also discover fascinating glimpses of the area’s industrial past through informative signs and QR codes that reveal the stories of the old factory buildings.
Sports, Play and Relaxation
Lipasmata Park offers something for everyone. Active visitors can make use of its sports facilities, including a 5x5 soccer field, basketball, tennis and beach volleyball courts, an outdoor gym, cycling lanes and running paths that trace the seafront. Families will find two well-equipped playgrounds, while dog owners can let their pets enjoy the dedicated dog park and water stations scattered throughout the grounds.
Culture by the Sea
The park hosts lively concerts, art exhibitions and other cultural events throughout the year, with the highlight being the Festival by the Sea each summer. The hybrid history tour — accessible on your mobile — and a virtual visit option via the park’s website let you explore its heritage in engaging ways, even from afar.
Free and Accessible for All
Lipasmata Park is managed by the Municipality of Keratsini-Drapetsona, which has created a welcoming, free-to-enter public space where everyone can enjoy the outdoors and connect with local culture. You can enter the park from the Piraeus port coastal road (E1 gate – Krakaris entrance) or from Ethnikis Antistaseos road (Water Town entrance), where public parking is available.
