For the ninth year running, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre brightens the holiday season, welcoming visitors to an enchanting spectacle. This year’s Light Installations Festival, themed “BioLumina”, features six installations by distinguished international and Greek artists, presented throughout the Stavros Niarchos Park from 29 November 2025 to 7 January 2026.

Large-scale Light Installations, visible from a distance, created for public space, engage in a dynamic conversation with the Park and offer visitors a unique, impressive experience, inviting them to interact and capture this whimsical experience.

Plants, animals, people, ideas, and emotions intertwine in an expansive web of connections—an experience that explores the power of interdependence and the synergy between nature and technology.
LIGHT INSTALLATIONS

BIRD PASSING BY
Great Lawn
Luminariste (France)
Light Art Collection (Netherlands)

Bird Passing By (Un Oiseau de Passage) is a monumental sculpture, of a giant magical bird that emerges in the night, with several stories in its wake. Faced with the alarming disappearance of bird populations, and which our contemporary views often forget to take into consideration, we install a giant bird in the urban space, to encourage us to look up at the sky.

POLARIS
Water Jets
Jun Ong ((Malaysia)
Light Art Collection ((Netherlands)

Polaris, also known as the North Star, has been a vital navigational reference for centuries, aiding travellers in finding their way due north. Movements of stars have often dictated agricultural seasons, religious festivals, and significant happenings with rituals aligned with astronomical events, like solstices and equinoxes. Polaris has been plucked from the heavens and landed here. It’s a bright shining beacon. Whether you admire Polaris by foot, bicycle, or from the water, the experience is always one you want to share, in real life, or online.

LIGHT A WISH
Dome
OGE Group ((Israel)
Light Art Collection ((Netherlands)

Make a wish before you blow the fluff from a dandelion into the air – everyone knows this game. OGE Group’s Light a Wish visualises the moment the seeds disperse in the air, taking your wish with them into the world.

ON THE WINGS OF FREEDOM
Green Roofs
Aether & Hemera ((Italy)
Light Art Collection ((Netherlands)

A group of radiant butterflies, that hovers with hundreds at a time in a flight upwards. On the Wings of Freedom is about the impressive way technology changes us as a society and how little we think about it.

WHALE GALAXY
Mediterranean Garden
Vangelis Xenodochidis (Greece)

The ocean and the cosmos—two vast, uncharted realms—share a common essence: darkness and stillness. Inspired by bioluminescence and the mysterious life of the deep sea, Whale Galaxy merges buoyancy and suspension, glow and reflection, creating a luminous experience balanced between sea and universe.

POMPE [procession]
Eleni Maragaki & George Nikas (Greece)

A field of more than 100 LED columns of different typologies welcomes visitors who enter Stavros Niarchos Park from the diagonal path leading to the Great Lawn. The work aims to create a visual event, in which visitors get to actively participate, forming part of a silent, luminous path towards uplift. The columns of light evoke the human figure in the context of a ritual, while the straight, absolute alignment and steep incline of the path intensify this feeling.
