This year, the festival once again stretches across every corner of the capital, from the historic centre and the oldest neighbourhoods to the liveliest and up-and-coming districts, inviting residents and visitors from across Greece and abroad to be part of a unique experience.
Concerts and street parties take place in parks, squares, and pedestrian streets; guided tours explore the city’s hills; sports activities cater to both young and old; and innovative gastronomic experiences, as well as events in museums and cultural venues, form an original, dynamic programme with sustainability at its heart.
Exceptional experiences unfold throughout the city: from a jazz band from North Carolina performing in the National Garden and the State Dance School staging a rooftop performance at Arsakeio, to live music at the National Archaeological Museum, major parties on Lycabettus Hill, Zappeion, and Kerameikos, traditional folk festivals, and summer screenings of beloved films. And of course, the festival kicks off with a festive opening on May Day, featuring the customary picnic at Plato’s Academy and much more.
