“Champion of the Year 2012” on Crete!

  Crete, and more specifically Robinson Club Hotel in the picturesque village of Sissi, hosted this year the German “Champion of the Year” (Champion des Jahres) ceremony! 88 German Olympic Champions enjoyed a fabulous one- week- stay on the island having the chance to get acquainted with its rich cultural heritage and history as well as to experience the authentic Cretan hospitality. The athletes stated that they were really excited to find themselves on the island where the great Minoan civilization flourished and that they were really impressed by the beauties of the island, the delicious Cretan delicacies and… the surprisingly warm temperature!

  More than thirty German journalists covered the event transferring the festive atmosphere as well as the beauties of the island to their country. Gerd Schönfelder, member of the German Disabled Ski Team, won the title “Champion of the Year” while all candidates received presents from the Prefecture of Crete. In the ceremony also participated the Vice-President of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) Christoforos Kaparounakis.
