What’s new on Mt. Parnassos

The ski centre of Parnassos, the most popular one in Greece, is undergoing a major renovation since last year, which also continues this year, with even more brand new high-technology lifts and eight-seater gondolas that can be found in few places around the world. Since the first snow fell early this year, the skiing season has already started and, if you are ski lovers, all you have to do is plan an easy excursion from Athens - even for one day - to the Athenians’ favourite mountainous destination. The famous town of Arahova is the one closer to the winter sports centre and offers multiple options for food, fun and accommodation. From among this year’s new arrivals, check the “Snow Republic” at the entrance to the town: the brand-new shop with ski equipment and everything skiers need, which was created by Stergios Pappos and Vasilis Baldoumis, owners of the oldest ski school in Greece. After this year’s renovation, “Le Sapin”, the all-day bar restaurant on the main street, became more spacious; it opens in the morning for brunch and goes on with impressive dishes of the winter French Cuisine. The “Pengu” is a brand-new all-day hangout for coffee, drinks and food. “Ε” is a classic for every hour of the day, especially for evening entertainment, and “O...tea pineis” offers an impressive variety of hot drinks. The neighbouring village of Agoriani is ideal for those who like low-profile destinations, with “Le Grand Chalet” being an attractive option. The all-day luxury place, created according to the standards of Alpine chalets, celebrates its tenth anniversary this year with frequent parties and an all-new menu.
