4 Greek hotels with an alpine feeling close to ski resorts

In Metsovo, one of the most beautiful villages of Epirus, the first snow usually falls right before Christmas and the luxurious new “Grand Forest Metsovo” hotel, very close to the area’s ski center, creates the appropriate atmosphere, adorning trees and all spaces, such as the large living room with the fireplace and the restaurant with the breathtaking views, with countless fairy lights. The parents enjoy moments of relaxation at the fully equipped “Fontus Spa” while the children play at the brand new playground. On the slopes of Mount Parnassos, just 2.5 hours away from Athens, the “Elatos Resort & Health Club” was one of the first hotels to create an alpine scenery in Greece, with 39 wooden chalets “hidden” in the forest. In the shared building you’ll find a restaurant, a bar, a play-room and a swimming pool with large windows and great views. The renovated Parnassos ski center is close at hand. In the uplands of Arcadia, a destination that is a great favorite with Athenians even for a one-day excursion, the “Kaltezioti Mansion” in the village of Kapsia is a unique mountain resort with a boutique philosophy. The rooms share a 1860 restored mansion with luxury suites, a boutique hotel in a modern building and also an all-suites unit. Additionally, it offers easy access to the small ski center of Mount Mainalo. For those who want to go farther, Palios Agios Athanasios is a picturesque village near the ski center of Kaimaktsalan, the most popular one in Northern Greece. Located in a quiet part of the village, the “Domotel Neve” is a top-class mountain resort, a member of the renowned Domotel hotels group. It features comfortable and elegant rooms, stylish suites and a well-organized spa while the public areas are spacious, bright and functional.
