Athens with a scent of Christmas

Already in early December, the Christmas feeling is strong in Athens, especially in the center of the city, with the shop windows of Ermou shopping street and the surrounding streets and the main Syntagma and Omonia squares decorated in the spirit of the season. The festive events organized by the Municipality of Athens reach a peak in the city center’s squares and pedestrian streets, from Syntagma Square to Thissio. Meanwhile, three theme parks have already lit the lights of celebration, attracting thousands of visitors - children and adults, Athenians and tourists - who want to live the magic of the Christmas tale for a while. In the popular fun district of Gazi, the “Christmas Factory”, the city’s most festive theme park, has opened its doors, for the third year in a row, in the “Technopolis” of the City of Athens, with a rink for endless pirouettes, a roller coaster and a huge wheel and, in between, imaginative workshops, games, treats and fun events. Until February 21, the “Chocolate Factory and Museum” will be at the Helexpo exhibition center in Maroussi, dedicated to chocolate, the favorite sweet of all people. One of the most impressive exhibits is the chocolate waterfall, the largest one in Europe, with 1,200 liters of real melted chocolate. You’ll also find numerous works of art about chocolate and special Christmas events. Finally, Santa Claus is coming for the third time to the Santa Claus Kingdom at M.E.C. exhibition center from Rovaniemi, Lapland. He is expecting both kids and adults until January 7 in a Christmas play area of 13,000 square meters, with 40 different activities that include, among other things, a 400-square-meter ice rink, a Castle City – action game, the Christmas Express train and Speed Land – the land of cars.
