3rd Athens Democracy Forum: the democratic dialogue takes center stage

Having established itself as the main event of the International Day of Democracy, the 3rd Athens Democracy Forum comes to Athens (13-15/9), the place where Democracy was born 2,500 years ago. The forum is organized by the International New York Times, in cooperation with the United Nations Democracy Fund and the City of Athens, and will focus on the importance, essence and challenges of democracy in the modern era, through speeches and parallel events, such as training courses, debates between students from international universities, as well as a concert of Rufus Wainwright at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. In the context of the Athens Democracy Forum, another forum will take place a few days earlier (11-13/9) at “Costa Navarino”, the iconic resort complex of Messinia, with internationally renowned speakers, including Nobel-winning economist Paul Krugman and the American artist Jeff Koons, who will explore the relationship between art and democracy.
