Renewed Andros with an arty mood

Easily and quickly accessible from the port of Rafina, Andros Island is a good idea for a whirlwind trip from Athens – and with an arty mood too. The important exhibitions hosted every summer by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation in Hora add artistic colour to visits to this large island. As of this summer, another cultural festival will be organized in a brand new theatre. With award-winning Greek director Pantelis Voulgaris as its artistic director, the International Festival of Andros starts its journey in August, in an open-air theater with a capacity of 900 people in the heart of Hora, with ancient drama performances and musical evenings with famous singers.
