July’s musical appointments in Athens
Having hosted artists such as Moby, James, Bad Religion, Unkle, Faith No More, Pixies, Jarvis Cocker, Royksopp and Beastie Boys, the Ejekt Festival (www.ejekt.gr) is the favorite summer rendezvous of the Athenians with electronic music since 2005. This year’s lineup of the festival (July 15) includes, among others, Parov Stelar, the Austrian king of electro-swing, Steve Aoki, the popular American DJ from EDM, Kadebostany, a group that is particularly popular in Greece, and Glasvegas from Glasgow. The stage will be set up again a stone's throw from the sea, at the “Plateia Nerou” (Water Square), in the area of Neo Faliro that is easy to reach by tram.
A few days later (July 21), Manu Chao will close this year’s
Rockwave Festival, yet another timeless appointment of
Athens with rock music that celebrates its 20th anniversary. With his band - “Mano Chao La Ventura” - the French-Spaniard songwriter returns to Greece for a unique live party at Terravibe (in the area of Malakassa), where he will perform favorite songs from his great career and others that have never been played live.
