Must-see event: Christoph Marthaler in Athens

One of the most influential theatre and art spaces of Athens, the Onassis Cultural Centre welcomes one of the leading European directors, Christoph Marthaler, with the idiosyncratic farce-comedy “The White of the Egg. Une ile flottante”, based on a work by the 19th-century French comic dramatist, Eugène Labiche. The inability of two families to communicate, as the one speaks only French and the other only German, becomes a spark for the award-winning Swiss director that lights his own socio-political comment on bourgeoisie, or even the European Union itself, in a performance that was first staged in the Theatre of Basel and makes a stop in Athens on 13-15 February (www.sgt.gr).
