FAIRYTALE WEDDING IN SPETSES

A fairytale Greek island wedding in Spetses… an island with beautiful vivid colors, hospitable people and the most authentic Greek island environment. A dream come true for many couples that want to have their wedding on a cosmopolitan island.

Spetses is a quaint island of the Saronic Gulf, not far away from Athens. It only takes a two hour ferry ride to reach this lovely island. The port of Dapia, in the town of Spetses, has beautiful neoclassical houses, mansions and cobblestone roads… where one can catch a glimpse of fisherman at work! From the magnificent port, the pebbled coastal road leads to the Poseidonion, a hotel with exceptional architecture
echoing hotels of Cote d’Azur style and that has been a landmark in Spetses for the
past 100 years.

On Spetses, the island that is also known as the “island of aromas” cars are banned in the central town. That detail can make a wedding in Spetses even more romantic… A fairtytale moment for the beautiful bride that arrived at the church in a horse-drawn carriage decorated with peonies. Such a special moment!

The wedding ceremony took place in the historic church of Saint Nicholas that is built at the entrance of the old port, facing the island lighthouse. The gorgeous courtyard is decorated with a unique pebble mosaic that also can be found on the streets and piazzas around the harbor Dapia.

Spetses is such a wonderful location for a destination wedding that combines so many interesting elements… the stunning beaches, the countless pine trees, the distinctive architecture, the local festivities such as the known “Armata Festival”… the history of this little Greek island is amazing. It is surely an island that you will want to visit again and again…
