The destination spa retreat “Euphoria” comes to Mystras
This winter may not have seen hotel arrivals that made a splash in Greece, but next May the spotlight will be turned on
Mystras, where a unique destination spa retreat is about to open. The “Euphoria” is built in a wonderful location, a stone’s throw from the Byzantine castle-town, among the pine forest and the olive groves, and will be intended for spa-goers from all over the world who seek wellness and self-improvement services, with one of the signature Mediterranean landscapes on the background. The hotel shares newly built premises, with a 1830s mansion as its centerpiece, and overlooks Sparta and the valley of the River Evrotas with the orange groves. The 45 rooms are decorated in earth tones and boast works of monastery art, while some feature a private Turkish bath or Jacuzzi. The spa impresses with its sphere-shaped swimming pool and its arches, whose style, like that of the public areas, is a nod to Byzantine architecture. There are many different treatments and programs available, ranging from weight loss and meditation to watsu (water shiatsu) to yoga to Pilates. The pinewood is ideal for hiking, while tree houses for treatments and overnight stays, as well as a restaurant that serves up Mediterranean cuisine with locally sourced products and special diet programs, complement the picture.
