The Bolshoi Ballet honour the “great” Mikhail Lavrovsky at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus
The great tribute of the Bolshoi Ballet to the 75th anniversary of the celebrated dancer, choreographer, and teacher Mikhail Lavrovsky is now a fact in
Athens too, featuring the outstanding Ivan Vasiliev and Lavrovsky himself.
The one and only Ivan Vasiliev, arguably the successor of Nureyev and Baryshnikov, returns to Athens, as the leading performer among the Bolshoi Ballet’s principals, next to the living legend of dance, Mikhail Lavrovsky, who re-enters the stage after many years.
On Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 September, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus welcomes the show “The Bolshoi Ballet Celebrates Mikhail Lavrovsky,” a tribute to the 75th anniversary of the great dancer, choreographer, and teacher who still inspires old and young people involved in classical dance. Lavrovsky, together with Ivan Vasiliev and Igor Tsvirko, Nina Kaptsova, Maria Vinogradova and the other members of Bolshoi, will present excerpts from iconic choreographies that marked his career. The on-stage meeting of Mikhail Lavrovsky with Ivan Vasiliev in the famous “Nijinsky” choreography, as well as the world first of an excerpt from Lavrovsky’s new choreography, are probably the most important highlights of the tribute and make this artistic production one of the top dance events of the season.
