Five guesthouses for farm holidays

Agri-tourism is a traveling trend that gains ground worldwide, as it offers the opportunity for direct contact with nature and relaxation away from the stressful city life. Greece features some trim guesthouses that create an agri-tourism and nature-loving setting in the lap of nature, which wears its most beautiful colors this time of the year. On the slopes of Mt. Pelion, the legendary mountain of the Centaurs, the guesthouse “Amanita” is located on an estate just outside the beautiful village of Tsagarada and looks out on the sea. Here, the emphasis is put on thematic weekends with a culinary and nature-loving orientation, such as the signature mushroom hunting. Further south, in the Peloponnese, we single out “Eumelia” in Gouves, Laconia: it is an organic farm-guesthouse that features a centenarian olive grove and areas where herbs are grown. Also in the Peloponnese, in the village of Kernitsa just outside Kalavryta, we find the “Fokaeon Farm” which spreads over an area of nearly nine acres with a pond, a vegetable garden, a vineyard, plane trees, acorns, fruit trees and various animals. If you want to go on farm holidays on a Greek island, Kea is the ideal choice. There, you will find the “Red Tractor” guesthouse. Together with the friendly owners, you will learn how to make exquisite chutneys and acorn biscuits, watermelon ketchup and much more. An alternative option is “Enagron”, a small ecotourism village in Axos, Rethymno, and also one of the most well-kept agri-tourism farms in Crete.
