From the vibrant streets of Havana to her rise as a renowned international performer, Ana Carla Maza brings a fresh and innovative fusion of classical cello and ethereal vocals, crafting a soundscape that is entirely her own.
A symphony of cultural influences, her music skilfully blends the rhythmic soul of Cuban melodies with the sophistication of jazz, the romantic flow of Brazilian bossa nova with the passion of the Cuban habanera, and intertwines tango, samba, and Latin jazz into a seamless and unique auditory experience.
A musical prodigy, Ana Carla began her artistic journey at just five years old, starting with piano and later discovering her deep connection to the cello. By the age of 13, she was performing professionally alongside her father, the renowned musician Carlos Maza, contributing to his celebrated 2010 albums, Carlos Maza en Familia and Quererte.
In 2012, she moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire de musique, where she continued to hone her craft. Her studies at the renowned PSPBB and Sorbonne University paved the way for her solo career, leading to acclaimed performances across Europe.
Since then, Ana Carla Maza has continued to shape and refine her artistic identity, creating an entirely personal and immersive musical world. Every one of her recordings is infused with a pure acoustic quality, free of electronic embellishments, allowing her radiant voice to soar from the vibrant rhythms of Caribbean rumbas to the sultry tones of Argentine tangos, all the while flirting with the lively spirit of bossa nova, samba, and jazz.
Her most recent album, Caribé, showcases her boundless creativity and deep connection to her roots. Written and recorded while she was literally "on the road" during a flight to Mexico, the album features a collaboration with a stellar ensemble of musicians from Europe and Latin America.
