OPEN HOUSE Thessaloniki
The renowned architectural event OPEN HOUSE Thessaloniki returns to the city on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, offering the public an opportunity to explore over 70 buildings and participate in a variety of parallel events starting a week prior.© Rafail Ravonikou
This initiative, aimed at promoting and enhancing the understanding of architecture, includes free guided tours conducted by OHT volunteers in private and public spaces, which open their doors exclusively for the event. Thousands of visitors will have the chance to discover both the contemporary architecture and the rich architectural heritage of Thessaloniki.
This year’s event will highlight two critical themes within design that impact people’s lives: Accessibility and Inclusion.
As part of this year's theme, information on accessible buildings will be available through accessibility filters on the website, special signage, and online (livestream) tours. OPEN HOUSE Thessaloniki tours will be offered in English, expanding access to visitors from diverse linguistic communities.
As part of OPEN HOUSE Thessaloniki 2024, in addition to building tours (OPEN TOURS), there will also be organized themed routes (OPEN WALK), guided tours for student and educational groups (OPEN SCHOOL), visits to production and creative spaces (MADE IN Thessaloniki), recorded interviews and tours of architectural firms operating in Thessaloniki (OPEN OFFICE), as well as online live-streamed tours (LIVE-STREAM TOURS).
The event program will feature a variety of competitions: OPEN PHOTO (photography contest), OPEN VOTE (audience award for the best tour), OPEN your map (best map competition), and more.
The tours are free and open to everyone, with no reservation required. We recommend that visitors arrive early at the locations they wish to visit, as the spaces close when the visiting hours end.
To participate in this year's program, each visitor must create a digital identity (QR code). The digital identity does not correspond to a reservation or priority queue, but simply facilitates the process of registering visitors at the locations they visit.
