Swan Lake

Ballet in two acts

The European Classical Ballet will present Swan Lake, one of the most famous ballets of all time, at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall on 27th April.

The lavish sets, atmospheric lighting, dazzling costumes, exceptional soloists, and the corps de ballet of the European Classical Ballet combine to create an impressive production – a truly fairytale spectacle that will captivate both young and old!

The story follows the romantic adventures of a young prince and a beautiful princess, who is transformed into a white swan by an evil sorcerer. Princess Odette spends her life trapped in the form of a swan. Only true love can break the spell, which comes in the form of the handsome Prince Siegfried, who swears to save Odette. The sorcerer tries to deceive him by arranging a marriage to his daughter Odile, the black swan who looks strikingly similar to Odette. However, Siegfried sees through the sorcerer's trick, the spell is broken, and he embraces his beloved, as they soar together into the sky.

Swan Lake remains one of the greatest challenges in the world of ballet, and it is no coincidence that the most renowned names in international choreography and some of the world’s finest dancers have tested their talent and creativity with this masterpiece. It embodies, like no other, the full spectrum of human emotions – from hope to despair, from fear to tenderness, from melancholy to ecstasy.

Among the dancers who have brought the leading roles of the ballet to life over time are figures such as Vaslav Nijinsky, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, Tamara Tumanova, and Frederick Ashton.
