MEGARON / ATHENS
Desde el Alma
The Athens Concert Hall presents on February 1, 2025, an exciting Tango evening, titled “Desde el Alma”.The Athens Tango Ensemble, a multi-member orchestra, in the authentic models of the Argentinean traditional orquesta típica, and forty dancers in unique costumes invite us to a spectacular evening of music and dance.
Tango was born in the underprivileged neighborhoods of Rio de la Plata in the late 19th century and spread across Argentina with imposing dynamism. Over time it not only survived, but continued its astonishing march into the 21st century, renewing its musical and dance forms and expressing authentic passion through its unique and ritualistic erotic code.
The Banqueting Hall is flooded with timeless melodies, such as Mato Rodriguez’s “Cumparsita” and Villoldo’s “Choclo”, favorites by Gardel, Piazzolla and many other composers, as well as Greek tango from the 1940s and 1950s. Music listening, dance shows and, at the end, milonga with live and recorded music and the voluntary participation of the audience.
