K.Bhta and Nikko Patrelakis return to the GNO Alternative Stage for a new round of performances of their successful musical venture Neapoly: after the Greek words for a “new city”, a new meeting space, a deep dive in the sanctuaries of electronica; a fascinating audiovisual electronic work with new, jointly created music and original videos.
In Neapoly, the two creators explore electronic music from the ground up, as form and style. The minimalistic repetition of arpeggiators, the design of artificial timbres from scratch as well as the use of analogue sources and processors form the base of Neapoly’s sonic reality. At the same time, the creators turn their gaze to the 70s and 80s, seeking the original references of electronica. K.Bhta notes: “We named our new project Neapoly, a mutual trek of exploration and experimentation with electronica, its minimalist forms and repetitive sequences, aspects of a world made out of concrete that is trying to prove its strength and presence in nature.” The videos included in the performance are a poetic wandering across Greece, a road movie running through this country’s nature and cities, charting its mountains, the sky and the sea, its people and their everyday life.
