Hélène Mercier - Alain Lefèvre

The internationally renowned and very popular in Greece, Canadian pianist Alain Lefèvre, meets his equally famous compatriot Hélène Mercier and present a unique recital of works for two pianos in the Christos Lambrakis Hall of the Athens Concert Hall, on Wednesday, October 5 at 8:30 pm. Among the works to be performed, Maurice Ravel's lovely "Bolero" in a transcription for two pianos by the composer himself, a version not often heard in symphony halls, stands out.

The core of Hélène Mercier and Alain Lefèvre's program at the Athens Concert Hall consists of works by André Mathieu, the so-called "Canadian Mozart". The two soloists will also perform the Andante from Concertino No. 2, Op. 13, the Romantic Rhapsody, and the Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 25, "Quebec", a popular creation in its time, which André Mathieu wrote when he was only 14 years old.

The composition "Chagrin", composed by Alain Lefèvre in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, will also be presented in a first world performance. The transcriptions for two pianos of Mathieu's and Lefèvre's works are signed by Achilleas Wastor.
