Yannis Gaitis. The essence of the impersonal
The B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music presents the retrospective exhibition "Yannis Gaitis. The essence of the impersonal" from 8 February to 22 October, 2023.
On the 100th anniversary of the birth of the leading artist Yannis Gaitis, the B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music organizes a retrospective exhibition, from 8 February 2023 to 29 April 2023, of his work, with representative works of his evolutionary path, with the contribution of his daughter, Loretta Gaitis, and the loan of valuable works from Galleries, Foundations and many private collections.
As Yannis Gaitis has pointed out: "I have painted about four and a half thousand works of which, I don't remember exactly, how many I sold. That's how I was able to live and make more. The problem with painting is that painting goes on...[...]. I have gone through many stages in painting [...]. Today I paint the little man, I don't have the power to change it, because the little man represents me perfectly [...]. Whether my works are liked or disliked is another issue because every time I do a new work, what happens is my last work is not liked. Because people don't want to see themselves as little man. So, they prefer a pebble, a flower or something else, but never a little man! Because they say I'm not a little man. But they are! [...]".
