Burning Water

The internationally renowned choreographer Antonis Foniadakis in the work Burning Water, presented at Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion in collaboration with the Ballet of the Croatian National Theater of Rijeka, transforms into physical movement, the idea of water, with chaos and peace constantly transforming from the one to the other. He describes water as an organic, natural element, from the storm with its penetrating energy, to the vast ocean with all that it contains. Mythical creatures and stories, shipwrecks and human catastrophes that lead to new survival instincts, flow incessantly without ever taking a final form.

Antonis Foniadakis studied at the State School of Orchestral Art (Athens) and the Rudra School (Lausanne). He has collaborated with the Ballets of Geneva, Bern, Rhine, Washington, Sao Paulo, the National Opera of Lyon, the National Dance Group of Wales, the groups Dansgroep (Amsterdam), Cia Sociedade Masculina (Brazil), Benjamin Millepied Dance Company (USA), and other.
