Settlements - Corfu

More than 100 villages and settlements are dispersed in the lush green surroundings of Corfu. According to their construction date they refer to Byzantium, Venetian, as well as folklore architecture of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, while here and there you can see findings from ancient Roman period.
Large villages, fish villages and immigrants’ or Eleftherioton settlements built with the approval of Byzantines Emperors and Lords. Whether centers of old powerful families or settlements of people desperate from overwork, the villages and settlements of Corfu have many stories to tell from the times of pirates, tax collectors, sovereigns and slaves, conquerors and saviors, people and gods.
The stone houses, the classic square with coffee shops, the organized churches and most of all the welcoming, sweet people will mesmerize you and make you feel like home.
