Acherounes is a coastal settlement with a large sandy beach, which is very popular. It is not far from the municipal racecourse, with the famous breed of Skyrian ponies (they don't grow more than 1.10 m high). These ponies are the last and very rare representatives of the renowned pony race of Pikermies of Palaiontologic period, and can be found only in Skyros and Shetland Islands in England. You can swim at the beaches of the village. Acherounes is located 10 km to the south of Chora.
