Roussa monastery

The Turkish Roussa monastery is an impressive construction built in 1402 by Kizilabash (Turkish for "Red Heads" - name given to a wide variety of Turcoman Shi'ite militant groups) of the Bektashism order, where some buildings of the 17th and the 19th century are still preserved. After the abrogation of Bektashism in 1925 in Turkey this monastery remains the only center that still performs Besktashism rituals.
