Visitors of the Prefecture of Drama will find the following monasteries: Analipseos tou Sotiros in Taxiarches village, Metamorfosis tou Sotiros in Prasinada and Aghios Minas in Perichora. These three monasteries form a network of pilgrimage tourism in the region surrounding the town of Drama. Moreover, the Ecclesiastical Museum of the Holy Diocese of Drama, housed in a ward of Drama Episcopal Mansion exhibits ecclesiastical treasures dating back to the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine periods such as portable icons, sacred utensils, vestments, etc. In the area surrounding directly the town of Drama as well as in the whole prefecture and particularly in the villages of Menoikio mountain and in the region of Nevrokopi, visitors will find Post-Byzantine churches (1815-1890), usually three-aisled wooden-roofed basilicas with impressive and exceptional wood carved chancels.
