Aghios Spiridonas

It was built in 1589 after Corfu community gathered money for its construction. Since then it has been housing the holy remains of the island protector Aghios Spiridonas.
The large castellated bell tower dominates in the city and you will recognize it if you walk around the old town and the castles. The bell tower has many similarities, and not randomly, with the Greek church in Venice (San Giorgio dei Greci).
