Lake Stefaniada

A Mt. Agrafa Lake

WHERE: Impressive Lake Stefaniada lies on the Agrafa massif, near Agrafa village. This is the youngest Greek lake as it was formed in 1963 when the earth collapsed, slowly creating a basin which thereafter got filled with water. It is surrounded by lush vegetation, the shore is quite abrupt and the water level varies, as it depends on seasonal rains.

HOW: You can reach the lake by road. It is a 70km ride from Karditsa town and the route is an impressive one as you will travel through traditional villages and through a landscape just below the foot of Argithea massif.
