Astipaleia Caves

PANAGIA POULARIANI CAVE is located in Analipsi or else Maltezana. DRAKOS CAVE (the cave of the dragon) with impressive arrays of stalactites and stalagmites is located in Vathi. It can be reached by boat. Finally, the famous SPILIA TOU NEGROU is located in Livadi. Local tradition has linked this cave with marauding pirates and their treasures. Access to it is possible by boat from Chora. Excursions to the cave are also organized from the surrounding islets.
