THE GREAT KLEISOURA GORGE – 20km S. In its S entrance lies Aghia Eleousa monastery built in a rock. Here served and died the “Monk of Kleisoura” Giannis Gounaris, the hero who saved Mesollogi from the first siege. Above the monastery you will see rocks where water has carved "the head of the Virgin Mary" and a "ship".
