13-17 December events

What’s on this week? Take a look at the events on offer, and let art transform your grey everyday into colourful motion!

The city of Thessaloniki presents an exhibition that will fascinate the art enthusiasts. The Telóglion Foundation of Art holds an exhibition dedicated to Toulouse Lautrec, the bohemian artist of the Moulin Rouge. His works depict in the most exciting way the atmosphere of the turn of the century, the so-called “beautiful era” in Paris.

Enjoy “Melody city” at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, a music performance for schools that illustrates vividly the eternal fight between good and evil. What makes this performance unique? Children themselves have the chance to define through their active participation and imagination the outcome of the story! (15, 16, 17 December at 10:00 & 12:00, 18 December at 18.30, and 19 December at 11.30)

Aladdin on Ice! Embark on the adventures of Aladdin at the Faliro Sports Pavilion from December 10th to 19th. The story is set in the Far East providing a stunning visual backdrop. A cast of talented skaters will re-create all the magic of the orient with flying jumps and dizzying spins! Together with colourful costumes and the creative choreography program, “Aladdin” offers a truly spectacular visual extravaganza.

Don’t miss “The love bacillus” at the Olympia Theatre. The famous operetta composed by Costas Yannides, leading composer of the inter-war period in Greece, is presented on December 14th and 16th (at 19:00) at the Greek National Opera (Olympia Theater). Clap to the rhythm of the passionate jazz music, and feel the intense cosmopolitan atmosphere of this exciting play!

The distinguished Greek composer and conductor Stavros Xarhakos comes together with old and new friends to take us on a lyric journey in the most glorious moments of the Greek music history. This time Xarhakos surprises us by giving an outstanding performance at a modern venue: he is directing the 12-member orchestra K.O.E.M., ‘STATE GREEK MUSIC ORCHESTRA’, in a special series of performances on the main stage at gazARTE until 20th December.
