Aerial Dancing Across Greece

Apart from the fact that the following landmarks are some of the most famous in Greece, could you imagine what the Corinth Canal, the cable bridge of Rio - Antirio, the imposing rock formations of Meteora, the world’s deepest canyon, Vikos, the island of Santorini and the well-known Navagio Beach on Zante have in common?

The answer is that the project Greece has Soul has taken part in these places. In a nutshell the project is aerial dancing (a mixture of dancing and extreme sports) and showcasing various landmarks in Greece. Katerina Soldatou is the project’s initiator, choreographer and dancer. Her performances take place with her hanging from silk harnesses up to 16 metres in length, allowing her to dance in the air in the most remarkable settings.

Soldatou and her colleagues (dancers, filmmakers, climbers etc) travel to various destinations in Greece that have a significant historic background or captivating natural backdrop. Besides trying to capture the essence of Greece, the team’s driving force is to unveil the culture, history, monuments, landscapes and seascapes of our country. Ms. Soldatou points out that the project underlines the importance of art of dancing that dates back to antiquity and raises environmental awareness throughout Greece.

Besides the aforementioned landmarks, Katerina Soldatou has also performed in the forest of Mt. Parnitha (Attica), on the wired bridge of Chalkida (Evia), on Tatarnas Bridge over Acheloos River (Central Greece) and in many more breathtaking areas.

Katerina Soldatou believes that Greece has soul, because its people have the ability, the drive and the passion to create, dream and inspire others.
