The Sound of Silk


Chang Jing, one of China’s most exceptional Guzheng virtuosos, is coming to Greece for the first time for two concerts on October 26, 2015 (Athens) and October 31, 2015 (Santorini).

The famous Chinese musician Chang Jing visits Greece for the first time together with the talented Xiao (Chinese flute) musician Zhang Di for “The Travelling across the silk road” music exchange project, organised by Meet Culture in co-operation with Trip2taste.

The first concert with the participation of the Ancient Greek Lyre band “Lyre ’n’ Rhapsody”, will take place at Trianon Theatre in Athens on October, 26. The second concert with the participation of the famous Cretan Lyre virtuoso Ross Daly, will take place at Boutari Winery, Santorini on October, 31.

Chang Jing captivated the attention of the world with the beautiful melody of Guzheng, an ancient stringed instrument, as the soloist in the Opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She also performed together with the famous Greek musician Yanni in 2013 CCTV Spring Festival Gala with an audience of 700 million.

During their journey, the two musicians will also record together with the ancient Greek Lyre band “Lyre ’n’ Rhapsody” the first ever Chinese-Greek crossover album that will be released both in China and Greece. Meet Culture will also film a music exchange documentary featuring their music voyage in Greece.
