FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD! Bost and the press

Visit the Benaki Museum (Peiraios Street Building) to see an interesting exhibition of Bost’s satire cartoons as they appeared in the daily and periodical press from the late 1950’s up to 1980. The exhibition will be running until May 19, 2013.

The artist’s ingenious sketches are seen within a historical framework and the exhibition traces the contemporary significance and aesthetic excellence of his satire which defies time!

Bost is today as modern – from a political point of view - as ever. Focusing on his legendary characters, Mother Greece worn out by bloodsheds, Miss Unemployed Girl and Mr Ravenous, his cartoons are very much related to the crisis in modern-day Greece.

The exhibition further highlights Bost’s people-friendly perspective, which exceeds party-line politics and states his faith in participation as a democratic ethos.

A significant section of the exhibition is a homage paid to Bost by modern cartoonists.
