Fly me to the Moon at Athens International Airport

“Fly me to the Moon” program celebrates Valentine's day with a spectacular dance event performed by the 1st Bollywood Dance Academy Greece. An explosion of sounds, colors and dance moves with prevailing Indian elements, will carry away the visitors and passengers of the Athens International Airport on Wednesday the 14th of February.

This event – expected to make a lasting impression on the public – will be performed by an extraordinary group of dancers, dressed with the typical bollywood costumes, presenting both traditional and contemporary elements of the Indian culture. Through this performance, the audience will have the chance to explore the beauty of Bollywood dance, which is cheerful and groovy and at times nostalgic and erotic.

The 1st Bollywood Dance Academy Greece was founded in 2013 by the internationally acclaimed dancer and teacher Mrs. Anna Dimitratou. The main goal of the Academy is to spread and expand the Indian culture and the real Bollywood dance in Greece. For this cause the Academy collaborates with the best master teachers from Greece and abroad and participates in a variety of festivals and special events.

The name "Bollywood" is a portmanteau derived from Bombay and Hollywood, reffering to the indian commercial cinema. Bollywood dance is a mix of traditional indian dances, such as Kathak, Bharata Natyam and Odissi, combining elements of traditional eastern dances with salsa, flamenco, jazz, hip-hop, modern dance and musical. It's a rather energetic and full of positive energy dance, with theatrical and storytelling elements.
