Exhibition Art is Female in the island of Crete

On the beautiful island of Crete, at Heraklion (Irakleio) make a stop at the Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts which hosts the original exhibition under the title Art is Female until June 1st, 2013.

The exhibition includes works of art created exclusively by women most of whom of Cretan origin. The show presents significant historical as well as contemporary works, all combining talent with female sensitivity.

The topics of the exhibition’s art works vary; figurative painting, landscapes, nudes, still life as well as conceptual works, installations and experimental art coexist in an exhibition which presents female creativity in the 20th and 21st century.

Once again, the Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts attempts to reveal both the artistic and the historical aspect of the subject.

It is worth visiting the exhibition Art is Female in order to get to know the work of many female artists who dare to express their opinion about genders and the notions of art and who have experimented with various mediums of artistic expression.
