International short film festival in Drama

The “Spring” of Greek cinema this autumn in Drama!

From the 20th until the 25th of September, Drama, a city with a rich historical background, welcomes again this year the film fans, inviting them to enjoy not only the festival’s events but also the local hospitality. The films are presented under the 16th Short Film International Festival, the 33rd Greek short movie Festival, and digi2010.

With an increasing momentum which crosses our borders, this cultural event has been established through the years as a means of expression through which aspiring directors demonstrate their artistic creativity. Considering the participation of 48 digital films (in the competition section), the photography exhibition and contest, the Greek and foreign short length movies shown as well as the plethora of other satellite events, we could easily conclude that Drama Festival is a unique cultural activity which strongly promotes not only the city of Drama but also our country worldwide.

Drama short Film Festival is a part of Ministry of Culture Cinema Network. It was founded in 1978 as an initiative of Drama’s Film Club and, after a successful course in the cinematic world through the past years, it finally became part of the Ministry of Culture “National Cultural Network of Cities” in 1996. In recent years, it is held simultaneously to the International Festival. Until now, more than 1000 Greek short films have participated in the competition, most of which are independent productions. This fact constitutes the Festival as an important communication forum amongst the new filmmakers.

Although being a decentralized cultural and art institution, the Drama Festival has managed to captivate even the most demanding cinema audience, due to its high standards and its international appeal.
